A Night of Speed and Glory at the Asian Youth Games

The floodlights at Bahrain National Stadium blazed brightly last night, setting the stage for an electrifying evening of athletics at the 3rd Asian Youth Games. As Asia’s fastest teenagers took to the track, spectators witnessed pure sprinting brilliance — and by the end of two thrilling finals, both the girls’ and boys’ races had crowned the continent’s next sprinting stars.

Aisha Tariq’s Golden Moment in the Girls’ 400m

The night kicked off with the girls’ 400m final, where Aisha Tariq of the UAE powered through the finish line to claim gold in 54.26 seconds.
India’s Edwina Jason secured silver (55.43s), while Chia-ying Wu of Chinese Taipei took bronze (56.60s).

After the race, Tariq was radiant with joy.

“When I finished, I was so happy,” she said, grinning. “My coach was still praying, so he didn’t even know I’d won! When he saw me, he said, ‘That’s my baby!’”

Clutching her medal with pride, she added:

“Before the race, he told me, ‘Run your race, do it your way.’ I did exactly that — and now I have gold. It means everything.”

Tariq’s emotional victory lit up the stands, setting the perfect tone for the boys’ sprint that followed moments later.

China Dominates the Boys’ Sprint Finals

In the boys’ 100m final, China’s Lai Jianguang showcased a masterclass in controlled speed, racing to victory in 10.56 seconds and breaking the Youth Games Best Mark.

His teammate Lin Xiaohai followed close behind with silver (10.73s), completing a powerful one-two finish for China, while Huang Guan Yao of Chinese Taipei claimed bronze (10.82s).

Speaking exclusively to The Daily Tribune, Lai shared his emotions moments after crossing the line:

“When the final whistle blew, I just felt relief and pure happiness,” he said. “Winning this gold makes all my years of training worth it. I want to thank my coach for his guidance and my family for their support.”

Though his time fell short of his own Asian youth record (10.00s) set earlier this year in Hiroshima, Lai’s dominant run reaffirmed his status as one of Asia’s brightest sprinting prospects.

The Future of Asian Sprinting Is Here

As the night drew to a close, the stadium lights reflected off two shining medals — and two shining young champions.
Aisha Tariq and Lai Jianguang stood at the center of the track, embodying the promise and potential of Asia’s next generation of sprinters.

Their performances weren’t just victories — they were declarations that the future of Asian athletics is faster, fiercer, and already here.
